Ivan Šimonović new ICDP Commissioner.

The Commission warmly welcomes Professor Ivan Šimonović as its new Commissioner.

Since October 2016 Professor Šimonović serves as the UN Assistant Secretary-General and Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on the Responsibility to Protect. Prior to taking this position, he was the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights heading OHCHR’s New York Office from July 2010. From 2008 to 2010, he held the position of Minister of Justice of Croatia.

Previously, Professor Šimonović was Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, where he served as President of the Economic and Social Council in 2002. For further information, please click here for our press release.
